Installation

You can either install the BrilliantRetail add-on module in a brand new site with sample data and the Blank theme or add it to your existing site. Before you install BrilliantRetail please download the BrilliantRetail ServerCheck utility to verify your server meets the minimum requirements.

Installing BrilliantRetail on a New Website

1. Download the latest release of ExpressionEngine.
2. Download the latest release of BrilliantRetail.
3. Upload ExpressionEngine files to your hosting accounts web root.
4. Upload BrilliantRetail directories to your server:
   • media - Upload to your server webroot/media
   • themes - upload third_party/brilliant_retail and site_themes/brilliant_retail to your webroot/themes folder
   • third_party - Upload all of the folders in system/expressionengine/third_party (i.e. br, brilliant_retail, shortee, snippet, tweetline) to your webroot/system/expressionengine/third_party directory
5. Set file permissions
   • media - set media and all sub-directories to writable (777)
     • create a 'cache' directory within you media folder if it does not exist.
   • webroot/system/expressionengine/config/config.php - set to system writable (666)
   • webroot/system/expressionengine/config/database.php - set to system writable (666)
6. Run the ExpressionEngine installation wizard. (http://www.yourdomain.com/system)
7. At second to last step be sure to select 'BrilliantRetail' from the theme options.
8. After install log in to your control panel and navigate to the BrilliantRetail Module.
   • From the settings menu 'Site' and check the relevant media url and paths, set your currency, and update your company information.
   • The secure_url is the full path. If you have install EE in a subdomain be sure to include the subdomain in the path (https://www.yourdomain.com/subdomain)
   • Enter your license key

Installing BrilliantRetail on an Existing Website

1. Download the latest release of ExpressionEngine.
2. Download the latest release of BrilliantRetail.
3. Upload ExpressionEngine files to your hosting accounts web root.
4. Upload BrilliantRetail directories to your server:
   • media - Upload to your server webroot/media
     • create a 'cache' directory within you media folder if it does not exist.
   • themes - upload third_party/brilliant_retail and site_themes/brilliant_retail to your webroot/themes folder
   • third_party - Upload all of the folders in system/expressionengine/third_party (i.e. br, brilliant_retail, shortee, snippet, tweetline) to your webroot/system/expressionengine/third_party directory
5. Set file permissions
   • media - set media and all sub-directories to writable (777)
6. Add BrilliantRetail templates to existing Site
   • Save templates as files - If you current have your files set to 'save as template files' you can copy the site directories from the original download under themes/site_themes/brilliant_retail directly to your current 'default_site' folder in your templates directory. Then sync templates from the design section and update the design to match your needs.
7. Navigate to the BrilliantRetail Module.
   • From the settings menu 'Site' and check the relevant media url and paths, set your currency, and update your company information.
