Managing Products
Creating and editing products use the same edit content form.
Creating a New Product
To create a new product click the Create a New Product button from the product overview page. When
creating a new product you have the option to select the product type. Below is a list of product
types currently available in BrilliantRetail. You can click on the title for editing information specific
to that product type.
- Basic - A simple product with no configurable options.
- Bundle - A group of any other type of product or service
- Configurable - A basic product with options to select like "red"
- Donation - A product which allows
- Downloadable - A digital product like a .pdf or .zip file
- Virtual - Products that do not carry inventory like a service.
Tip: If a new product is going in a new category, first create the category in Settings
The other fields in the form are the same as the editing an existing product below.
Editing an Existing Product
To edit an existing product click the product title from the product overview page.
- Title (required) - Product Title
- url title - The key used in the url to identify the product. You can click the url title value to set
your own value.
- Type - The product type is set when the product is first created.
- Description - The product description.
- Details
- Status - (Enabled/Disabled)
- SKU - The unique SKU (stock keeping unit) for the product.
- Qty - The total quantity available. For configurable products its the sum of all of the variant quantities.
- Taxable - Is the product taxable. If set to yes the product will be run against the tax rules configured
in your settings at checkout.
- Shippable - If the product is taxable it will be used in calculating the shipping based on the methods
you have configured in the settings.
- Weight - If Shippable is yes then weight is displayed. Enter only the value not the units.
- Featured - If the product should be considered featured.
- Custom Attributes - Custom attributes allows you to pull an attribute set into the product. This is useful when
you have products with specific sets of attributes that should be attached to the product detail. Attributes and Attribute
Sets are configured in the Settings section of BrilliantRetail. The Custom Attributes are used to output information.
If you are trying to capture information from your customer use options.
- Options - Options allow you to create input, textarea, and dropdown options on your product detail page per
product. Option values will be added to the cart, order detail and invoice.
- Images - Add images to your product with the Upload or Browse button.
- Title - Add a title to your image
- Large - Select the main image on product detail page.
- Thumbnail - Select the thumbnail image which will be displayed throughout the site. (Catalog, Cart, Notifications)
- Exclude - Excluded images will not be shown in the additional images on the product detail page.
- Sort - Drag and drop the images into the order you would like them displayed on the product detail page.
- Delete - Remove the image.
- Price (required) - Set the price for the product. The price can be assigned by member group and have start and end dates.
- Group - Select ALL GROUPS or a specific member group for the price
- Price - The price without a currency symbol. Correct: 9.99 // Incorrect: $9.99
- Start Date
- End Date
- Sort - The system will loop through all rows so the last match will be displayed.
- Delete - Remove the price option.
- Sale Price (optional)
- Group - Select ALL GROUPS or a specific member group for the sale price
- Price - The price without a currency symbol. Correct: 9.99 // Incorrect: $9.99
- Start Date
- End Date
- Sort - The system will loop through all rows so the last match will be displayed.
- Delete - Remove the sale price option.
- Catalog - The catalog section displays the category tree and allows you to assign your product to as many categories
as you like.
- Related Products - Search for related products to associate with the primary product.
- SEO - Specify the SEO information for the product.
- Title
- Keyword
- Description
- Product Feeds - Assign your product to any feeds which are configured for your store.
Deleting a Product
A product can be deleted from the Product Overview page using the batch update function. You can also delete an individual product
from within the product edit form.
